Obituary

Alan Bennett Sr. ascended to heaven on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Lakeside.Interment will be private in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Biggers Funeral Home. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Hands on Missions Fund, First Baptist Church of Lakeside, 8801 Jacksboro Hwy., Lakeside, Texas 76135. Alan was born December 30, 1930, in DeRidder, Louisiana. He bravely served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was an outstanding provider with an excellent work ethic. The family migrated to Houston in 1970. Alan and Bettye relocated to Azle in 2006. Alan was an astute businessman who established two highly successful businesses. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lakeside and the "Top of the Hill Gang" where his leadership and influence will be greatly missed. He was a loving husband and dedicated father and grandfather with an unparalleled Christian faith. He is now together with his father and mother, Henry and Lula Mae Bennett, who preceded him in his heavenly journey. Alan is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Bettye Womack Bennett; daughters, Gail Bennett, Marsha Rector and husband, Greg; son, Alan Jr. and wife, Sarah; grandchildren, Matt and wife, Shonda, Andi, Grace, Madeline and Conner; his great-grandchildren, Andrew and Devan; and sister, Barbara Ann Kalivoda of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
