It is with heavy hearts, yet wonderful memories that we announce the passing of Zane Alan Coker, a devoted family man and a dedicated public servant, who peacefully left us on March 11, 2024 after a long battle with cancer.

Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024 in Biggers Funeral Chapel.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Biggers Funeral Home, prior to the funeral service.

Committal: Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth, Texas

Memorials:  In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Alan's name, reflecting his commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

Alan, (AKA: Al, Big Al, Rosebud, Uncle Al, Papa Al, Elf, and many others) ,was born June 27, 1957 and raised in the Lake Worth area.  While in high school at Lake Worth, Alan joined the rodeo team and enjoyed bull riding (with or without his mom's approval) in the North Texas High School Rodeo Association.  He met the love of his life, Cindy, and together they shared 46 years of marriage.  Their union was blessed with a daughter, Amber, her husband Jon, and three grandchildren Jacob, Caleb, and Gabriel, who brought immeasurable joy to Alan's life.

After high school, Alan worked for several years as a deliveryman for Coors Distributing before changing careers.  He set his sights on working for Tarrant County Sheriff's Department, working nights and attending Police Academy by day to earn his Texas Peace Officer's License.  Alan started in the jail, then helped form and lead the County's Crime Scene Division for ten years and spent his last few years in the Felony Warrants Division.  Alan retired as a Sergeant after 28 years, serving with honor and distinction, leaving an indelible mark on both his colleagues and the community he faithfully protected.  Colleagues remember him as a reliable and compassionate officer, always willing to go the extra mile for the safety and well-being of others.

Alan's commitment extended beyond the badge, as he found immense joy in watching school and sporting events with his grandchildren, especially Aledo Bearcat Football.  Whether cheering from the sidelines or sharing in their victories, Alan's presence was a constant source of support and love.  Alan also loved college sports, particularly any involving the SEC and the Arkansas Razorbacks (Woo Pig Sooie!).  Alan and Cindy started a family tradition of attending college football bowl games each year with their grandsons.  One year, they took them to six different bowl games, traversing the state, and making memories for a lifetime.

Alan loved to travel, especially to any tropical destination.  Over the years, Alan and Cindy had many fun and memorable adventures to their favorite spots throughout the Caribbean, particularly Isla Mujeres.  He and his family spent many summer vacations in Rockport and Port Aransas.  These beachside retreats became a cherished tradition, filled with laughter, relaxation, and the creation of enduring family bonds.  Alan reveled in the simple pleasures of life during these vacations, enjoying the sun, sand, long drives in his golf cart, and the company of those he held most dear.

When not out of town or at a sporting event, Alan spent many Fall weekends hunting.  He has so many great "deer camp" stories, including 400-pound hogs, fresh deer tamales, and fake snakes in sleeping bags.

Alan was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy (Vogel) Coker; father, William Wayne Coker; father-in-law, Charles Luke; brothers-in-law, Tommy Duncan and Randy Thomas; and many close friends.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Coker; daughter, Amber Seastrunk and her husband, Jon; grandsons, Jacob, Caleb, and Gabriel Seastrunk; sisters, Tammy Thomas, Sharon Johnson, Cindy Duncan; brother, David Coker; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and more friends than can be listed.

May Alan rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and gratitude of the family and community he touched throughout his remarkable life.
