Anna Laura Cutshall, 93, passed away peacefully Monday, April 27, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ash Creek Baptist Church in Azle. Interment will be in Ash Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Biggers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to United We Build - Ash Creek Baptist Church, 300 S. Stewart, Azle, Texas 76020. Born in Dicey, between Azle and Weatherford, Anna and her family moved often but returned to settle in the Azle area when she was 10. In 1938 she graduated from Azle as valedictorian and attended the University of Texas on a scholarship. She came home to study at NTAC in Arlington and NTSU in Denton so that she could help care for her mother. When World War II began she worked for the Army Air Depot in San Antonio, later transferring to Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth and then the War Assets Administration and the C.A.A. In 1961 she was appointed postmaster in Azle where she served for 19 years. Anna served as chairman of the first American Cancer Society drive in Azle, was a board member of the Azle Chamber of Commerce, worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the National Association of Postmasters, D.A.R. and ws a member of the Business and Professional Women in Azle. She was a faithful member of Ash Creek Baptist Church for 78 years, teaching Sunday school for 50 of those years. Anna, with her husband, Harry, enjoyed traveling throughout all the 50 states to see the sights and visit friends and relatives. Mr. Cutshall preceded her in death December 13, 2001, after 55 years of marriage. Her family would like to thank her caregiver, Brenda Miller, for the compassionate care given their mother. Mrs. Cutshall is survived by her brother, Simon A. Snider and spouse, Caroline; son, Jack Cutshall; daughter and spouse, Mary Hunt and Rollie; grandchildren, Travis Hunt and Meghan Hunt Doolan and spouse, Brian; and great-grandchildren, Meagan Cutshall and Rowan Doolan.
