Anne Elizabeth Johnson, 73, of Fort Worth went to be with the Lord July 31, 2019.
Service: A celebration of her life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 17, at Biggers Funeral Home.
She was born in Waynesville, Ohio in 1948, the third child of Elizabeth and Eli Furnas. She spent her childhood on the farm, tending to the chickens until she attended boarding school. After she graduated she moved to New York and joined the Unification Church, dedicating her life to building toward their vision. While there, she met and married Bill Johnson, moving to Washington DC where she had her only child, Derrick.
Anne and Bill separated, and Anne stayed in Washington living on her own small farm until she came to live in Texas. In Texas, she purchased her own home where she used her industrious spirit and hardworking nature to take on many different jobs to take care of her son.
Anne always had a big heart, taking care of all the kids in the neighborhood or in her circle, making sure to work in a Bible lesson along with crafts and feeding them with her world famous goulash.
Anne cared deeply about her community. She ran for city council and was instrumental in starting Citizens on Patrol for Ft. Worth.
Survivors: Anne is leaving behind her son, Derrick Johnson; two grandchildren, Alicia and Derrick Johnson Jr.; and her brother, Steve Furnas.
