Benjamin Luke Jones (December 11, 2001 - July 31, 2018) Benjamin Jones was a musician, student, son, grandson, nephew, and loyal friend. He was, in the words of his mother, "introverted, but not shy." He made friends quickly and had a large number of them in many different circles, including school, church, and online. He was a Christian who loved God, experienced His goodness personally, and recognized a divine Creator in nature and through science. He loved animals and cherished his family pets. His love for music appeared early in his life, when he could be heard humming in his crib or while eating as a toddler, and continued to be expressed in his lovely singing voice. He had started to learn to play piano by ear, and he began playing classical guitar in middle school. He was also a talented artist, and he was known to turn in school assignments with drawings and even self-portraits underneath his work. He loved to learn new things, and he was a successful student at International Leadership of Texas, where he earned the "Student of the Year" award in his sophomore year and was inducted into the National Honor Society. He laughed joyfully and loved a good joke, or even a bad one. Benjamin had an eye for design and architecture, and he appreciated fine details that would go unnoticed by casual glances. His gifts of observation and discernment extended into his view of others, and he had the ability to see beyond the surface to people's true selves. This spirit of compassion led him to support ideas that would benefit the largest number of people, even if those ideas did not lead to his own personal gain. He forgave easily and did not hold grudges; he tended to give people the benefit of the doubt. He travelled widely throughout the world, including trips to China, England, and Israel, and his travels opened his eyes and broadened his experiences. As his father describes, "He especially cared for people in distress and in need," and he was dedicated to missions in Vietnam, where he ministered to orphans and helped in community service projects. He was a bright light, and the world is darker without him. Survivors: He leaves behind his beloved parents Jeff Jones and Susanna Luk Jones, his grandparents Barbara Jones, Ed Jones, and Freddy and Ladia Luk, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and all of the friends he gathered throughout his lifetime. Benjamin's memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, August 7 at Northwood Church, 1870 Rufe Snow Dr., Keller, Texas 76248.
