Bernice Marie (Morris) Newman was born September 25, 1938, in High, Texas to Otha Revis and Edith Hill Morris.
Visitation: 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2026, Biggers Funeral Home, 6100 Azle Avenue, Lake Worth, Texas 76135.
Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 4, 2026, Post Oak Cemetery, Glenn Rose, Texas.
(Take FM 51 south of Granbury to FM 56. Take FM56 South towards Glen Rose, past Hill City, past nuclear plant entrance traffic light Co. Rd 331. The cemetery is at top of hill on the left immediately after Co. Rd 1007 on right.)
She was the youngest of six children and graduated from West Lamar High School in 1957 where she played on the girls' basketball and volleyball team and sang in the choir.
She met and married the love of her life, Royce Darrel Newman on November 1, 1958, in Paris, Texas. In 1968 they moved to Fort Worth when Royce Darrel was transferred with the Texas Highway Department. Bernice enjoyed gardening, canning fresh vegetables, making homemade jellies, cookies and candies.
In 1993, after Royce Darrel retired from the State of Texas, they moved to Cross Plains, Texas where they bought 80 acres and she helped Royce Darrel build their first brand new home. Over the next fifteen years before moving back to Fort Worth, she enjoyed traveling and visiting new places.
Bernice was very involved in researching the genealogy of not only her own family but also that of her husbands.
On April 29, 2026, the Lord called Bernice home to Heaven to be with her family and friends, who had gone on before her.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Otha Revis and Edith Mozell Morris; brothers and sisters, Scott, James, Bruce Morris, Margie Glover and Lorene Ramsey.
She is survived by her loving husband and soul mate, Royce Darrel Newman of Fort Worth; son, Jeffery Newman and wife, Pamela of Canyon, Texas; daughter Belinda Bush and husband, Tim of Port O'Connor, Texas; four grandchildren, Chris Newman of Poolville, Texas, Shane Newman and wife, Kasey of Gordon, Texas, Justin Newman and wife, Tasha of Mingus, Texas and Misty Collins and husband, Ryan of Weatherford, Texas; nine great-grandchildren, Tanner, Adelynn, Haden Kasen, Kamerin, Audrey, Finley Newman, Oliver Crowson and Piper Collins; one great-great-granddaughter, Haislee Newman; sister-in-law, Phyllis Morris of Bangs, Texas; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
The family would like to thank DFW Home Health, Americare Home Care, Angie Maroney, Solaris Hospice and Biggers Funeral Home.
