Billie Louise Bowling went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 19, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 1, in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Billie was born June 7, 1934, to Larkie Dempsey and Sallie Dixon Balkcom. Billie will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt full of spunk and personality. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff of River Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and VITAS Hospice; and a very special thank you to her niece, Tammy Wright, for offering comfort and peace as Billie made her transition into heaven. Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Cowboy" Bowling; daughter, Darlene Spears; son-in-law, James "Jimmy" Spears; and sisters, Donna Chandler and Peggy Easley. She is survived by her grandson, Charles "Chance" Spears-Valen and wife, Becky; brother, Bud Dempsey and wife, Sharon; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
