Billy Wayne Erwin, 89, died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, June 12, 2024 surrounded by his loving family in Fort Worth, Texas.

He was born on September 9, 1934 in Hillsboro, Texas, where he grew up before moving to Fort Worth. He was a long-standing member of several local gun clubs and an avid skeet shooter, winning many competitions. He shared his love of shooting with his grandkids and taught them to shoot as well.

He retired from Bell Helicopter after over 30 years of employment. After retiring he continued shooting and started playing golf, even making a hole in one. He was a man of few words who cared deeply for his family and would show it through sharing memories with loved ones and taking many photographs. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and love for his family.

Billy was preceded in death by son, Stephen Erwin; parents, Ed and Frances Erwin; brother, Ray Erwin; sisters, Joan Moore and Barbara Robbins.

He is survived by wife, Bonnie; sister, Linda Neckar and brother-in-law Bill Neckar; brother, Gary Erwin and sister-in-law, Judy Erwin; daughters, Cathy Blevins, Tracey Schlumpf and son-in-law, Kevin Schlumpf; grandchildren, Chad Erwin, Mark Erwin, Sean Erwin, Justin Touchette, Courtney Touchette, Kellen Schlumpf; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
