Brenda Poindexter Scoggins, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015, after a brave battle with cancer. A service to celebrate Brendas life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Biggers Funeral Chapel in Lake Worth. Interment will be in Ash Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Biggers Funeral Home. Born in Fort Worth on February 4, 1943, Brenda was very active in church, sorority and womens club. Despite her battle, Brenda remained a social, loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to her family and all who knew her. Before passing, Brenda chose to celebrate with friends and family during a luncheon where she maintained her ever-present smile, positive attitude and enthusiasm for life until the end. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Harley Scoggins; sister, Gwen Kilgore; daughter, Erin Hipps and husband, Greg; son, Chuck Hooper and wife, Angie; four stepchildren; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
