Obituary

Brooks Steve Applewhite, born February 21, 1930, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 95 on Friday, August 22, 2025.

Service: 11:00 am, Thursday, August 28, 2025 in Biggers Funeral Chapel.

Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park

Visitation: 10:30 a.m., prior to service at Biggers Funeral Home.

A true patriot, Steve proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force for 22 years. His distinguished military career included service in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, where his courage and dedication stood as a testament to his character and love for his country.

Following his military retirement, Steve continued his life of service and commitment through a successful 28-year career with Lockheed Martin, where he applied his skills and leadership to support the nation's defense industry.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wives, Bettye Jean Applewhite and Nora Anne Applewhite, with whom he built a life of love, family, and devotion.

Steve is survived by his four children, Deborah Peters, Larry Applewhite, Wynn Anne Hayden, and Tony Applewhite; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

To his family and friends, Steve will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a man of integrity whose life embodied service, resilience, and faith. His stories, laughter, and steady guidance will be deeply missed but forever treasured.
