Calaway Edward Atkins, known to most as Ed, 85, of Fort Worth, Texas, received his Heavenly

reward the morning of June 27, 2023.

Service: 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 7, 2023, The WORD at Lakeside Church of God

Interment: 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 8, 2023, Mount Marion, Strawn, Texas

Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, July 6, 2023, Biggers Funeral Home, as well as an hour before the service.

He was born on November 12, 1937, in Brownfield, TX, to the Rev. James Calaway (J.C.) Atkins and Rev. Mary Ella Atkins.

Ed was a devoted husband, father/grandfather, church member, prayer warrior, Bible scholar, and friend. He was known for

his dry and quirky sense of humor and his willingness to work hard to support his family.

In his career, he worked diligently in his positions at the city of Wichita Falls, Texas, A Brandt,

Martin Sprocket & Gear, 7-Eleven, and Albertsons, which is where he worked until a week before

reaching his Heavenly home. His leadership and strong work ethic were evident throughout his

life.

Ed found solace and community in his faith. He was a faithful member to the Church of God

denomination, worshipping at White Settlement Church of God, which became Arlington Heights

Church of God, then later on becoming The WORD at Lakeside Church of God.

Outside of faith, family, and work, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting various items, and

telling numerous stories to all who would listen.

Ed is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Wimberley Atkins; his daughters, Nancy Cothrum,

Christine Sexton and husband, Richard Shane Sexton, all of Fort Worth, Texas and Ella Norris

and husband, David Norris of North Richland Hills, Texas; and his legal charge/granddaughter

Therese Atkins of Fort Worth, Texas; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren,

and two great-great-granddaughters; additionally, he leaves behind countless nieces and

nephews.

In lieu of flowers, we would be honored if gifts/donations can be made in his name or his

incredible heart doctor, Dr. Joseph Ortenberg, to the Texas Health Resources Foundation.

Ed will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His
