Candace Ann Ewert, known lovingly as Candy, passed away on May 20, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas.  She was 71 years old.

Service:  A small memorial will be held at Bristol Park Assisted Living on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM.  A memorial gathering in the Houston area is being planned for the coming months.

Born on September 24, 1954, in Ohio, Candy lived a life defined by warmth, creativity, and an extraordinary gift for bringing people together.

As a young woman, Candy discovered her love of teaching through giving swim lessons.  She went on to build a career in the hospitality industry before earning her Master's degree and dedicating herself to teaching children how to read.  Her passion for nurturing others was evident in everything she did.

Candy was happily married to James Ross Ewert, Jr., and together they raised their son, Todd. Much of their family time was spent at the baseball field, cheering and making memories. Jim's untimely passing in 2011 was a profound loss, but Candy carried forward the love and joy that defined their life together.

Anyone who knew Candy knew her kitchen was always open.  Cooking was one of her great loves, and sharing food was one of her truest love languages.  She also enjoyed crochet, reading, and gardening. She was passionate about giving back to her community, supporting local food banks, children's charities, and the Salvation Army.

Candy was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her mother, Mary Margaret Todd; and her father, James Todd.

She is survived by her son, Todd Ewert; her sister, Jenny Reed; her brother, Mark Todd; and Charlotte Ewert, Savvy Ewert, and Tia Ewert, who were dear to her heart.

May she rest in God's peace and grace.
