Carmen Mendez Adcock, 79, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Thursday with the recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Thomas Building Fund, 2920 Azle Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76106. Carmen was born August 27, 1933, in Fort Worth. She was a longtime and active member of St. Thomas Catholc Church and a member of the St. Thomas Womens Organization. She retired from the Department of HUD and FAA where she had worked for over 25 years in accounting. Carmen dedicated her life to helping others. She volunteered with Catholic Charities and taught English as a second language to persons wanting to gain U.S. citizenship. She loved her family and loved to spend time with them. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Aurillo and Perfecta Mendez; her sister, Teresa Castillo; her brother, Carlos Mendez; grandson, David Osborn; and nephew, Carols Mendez Jr. She is survived by her sons, Edward Adcock and James Adcock; daughter and son-in-law, Cyndi and Mark Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Esther Mendez; seven grandchildren; five great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
