Carmen Martinez, age 47, died at Texas Health Rehabilitation Center on February 22, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Lake Country Church, 8777 Boat Club Road. A reception will immediately follow the service. Committal will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 until 5 p.m. Friday and 3 until 8 p.m. on Saturday at Biggers Funeral Home. Carmen was born on July 8, 1969 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She lived in Bronx, New York, and Fort Worth where she worked as a school counselor for the past 18 years. Carmen was a member of Lake Country Church where she served in various roles. Survivors include her husband, Israel Portales;, daughters, Julissa Gmez, Melissa Leyba, Vanessa Herrera, and Yanessa Portales; parents, Maria Mendez and Felix Martinez; and brother, Felix Martinez.
