Chandler Bryce Coleman, age 44, shed his earthly body and flew to heaven on Sunday, November 9, 2025. He was there to greet his mother, Sheree, who arrived just two days later.

Born January 23, 1982, Chandler was diagnosed with Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome, a very rare syndrome that resulted in profound mental disabilities and blindness. Experts said that his chances of living past the age of 17 were slim to none. But no one told Chandler: despite the many challenges he faced, he lived nearly two decades longer than expected, aided by a loving family and a stubborn streak a mile long.

As a child, Chandler would spend hours on the backyard swing, frightening his parents with the heights to which he would climb. As he grew, the family had to build a custom swing set made of 6x6 planks buried and cemented two feet in the ground to support him.

Chandler loved Elmo dolls, sitting in people's laps (even as an adult), car rides and - to the dismay of his parents - roller coasters. The faster, higher, and rougher the ride, the better he liked it. He particularly loved a double-loop roller coaster aptly named the Shock Wave, often riding seven or eight times in a row.

Chandler's eyes would light up when you came into a room, as if he hadn't seen you in years. His leg would wrap around yours in his version of a hug. But what people remember most about his joyous smile. Joyous, loving and a little bit mischievous - all at the same time.

Over the past few months, during Sheree's illness, he loved to sneak into her room and sit on the bed with her. In the end, he decided to leave for heaven before her so that there would be someone to meet her when she arrived. There, he is whole, happy and probably riding a frighteningly fast roller coaster.
