Charles Edward Hudson CDR (Retired) USN of Fort Worth, Texas fell asleep into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Ed was the loving husband of Marie Hudson (nee Marsden Jones), beloved son of John and Goldie Mae Hudson (nee Bowie), and devoted father of Bruce (Gloria) Hudson and Carla (Paul) Kohlmeier.

Service: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 10, 2024 in Biggers Funeral Chapel, 6100 Azle Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas. 76135.

Interment: 1:30 p.m. following the service at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.

Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday October 9, 2024 at Biggers Funeral Home.

Ed was born on September 26, 1932, in New Hope, Texas. He grew up in the area moving around in a crop share farming environment until he graduated from Anna High School. Ed enlisted in the US Navy and began an amazing 29-year career that moved he and his family around the world. Ed married his first wife of 60 years, Dixie Diann (nee Henley) in Honolulu, Hawaii and started their family in Hutchinson, Kansas with Bruce. After a stop in Corpus Christi, TX they moved to Bermuda where Carla was born. This was followed by Meridian MS, Okinawa Japan, Beeville TX, return stops to Corpus Christi, Hawaii, and finally Corpus Christi again where he retired a Commander. Ed learned early to work hard and he carried that habit his whole life and always outworked his peers to climb the ranks. "Never let your frustrations overcome your ability to laugh" was his working mantra.

Ed and Diann moved to Eddy, Texas to care for Diann's mother, Lois and he built their dream home almost by himself but always employed any family or friends that would stop by. Pay was some Shiner beer, a delicious meal and great conversation. Maybe a game of Garbage if you could still move. The Spirit moved Ed to participate more regularly in the Baptist Church and he enjoyed the service, fellowship and many friends. After 27 years in Eddy, they moved to Fort Worth to be closer to their children. Ed married again later in life to Marie Marsden Jones in 2017 and they enjoyed caring for each other and continuing activity in the Baptist church.

Ed's faith in Jesus remained central to his life, he was a Texan to the core, faithful to the Navy and all it provided to him and his family. Ed loved his entire family and displayed love and generosity for all throughout his life.

Ed was preceded in death by his Parents; his former wife, Diann; siblings, George, Herman, Alice, Ruby and Elsie Marie.

He is survived by his sister, Lillie DeRossett; two children, Bruce and Carla; four grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, their families, and friends.
