Charlie Smith, 85, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2017, at Lakeside Church of God. Interment with Military Honors: 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2017, at the funeral home. Charlie was born June 22, 1932 in Bowie County to John and Addie Smith. He was a longtime member of the Lakeside Church of God and retired in 1994 after 25 years with Gifford-Hill. Survivors: Wife of 62 years, Julia M. Smith; sons, Charles Smith and David Smith; daughters, Barbara Applewhite, Karon Gann, Shariece Smith, and Valerie Medford; ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members.
