Cherri Broyles, born Cherri Minnette Clarke to parents James and Ginger Clarke, in Sioux City, Iowa, on October 3, 1955, entered mortality on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 in Fort Worth Texas.

Cherri's husband David, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, in-laws, cousins and friends will gather to pay their respects at Biggers Funeral Home, 6100 Azle Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76135, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

A gathering at her home 6116 Dunnlevy Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76179 will follow.

Cherri was always one to forge her own path. In 1974 she struck out on her own, joining the Navy during the Vietnam War. She brought her young daughter to San Diego, California to start a new life. She met another Navy Sailor, and their little family grew to include another daughter and before long two sons came along to complete the circle of hearts that were the foundation of her family. But the union with that sailor was not meant to last. It did bring her children together, but Cherri had another love to find.

In 1984 she found him, her best friend and true love. With David she was her best self.

Cherri worked her whole career for the Department of Defense in one capacity or another. She rose to the top at a largely male dominated industry, and she outshined them all. It's not an easy thing to do to join the Navy at 18 years old, during war time, and manage to rise from clerk, to procurement, to a contract negotiator to special consultant with only an associate's degree and her own formidable intellect to recommend her. To say she was respected is an understatement. She was proud of her career, as is right, but nothing meant more to her than her family. There was never anything she wouldn't do for them, or them for her.

Cherri is survived by her husband, David Gordon Broyles; her living children, Dawn Michell (Birdie) Nunnally, Danielle Francis Schuh, Derek Robert Cadiz; her 6 grandchildren, Makenzie Michell Dunkel, Anton Daniel Schuh, Kaden Robert Cadiz, Bennett James Nunnally, Haley Noelle Cadiz, Brooklyn Shea Cadiz; her two great grandchildren, Wyatt James Keene, Raven Jean Michell Dunkle; her brothers, Terry Clarke and his wife, Susan, Constantine Klimiades and his wife, Jen; her sisters, Karleen Lubben and her husband, Mark, Teresa Harder and her husband, Mark; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents. and is now reunited with her son, Damon Jose Cadiz.

Ultimately, she will be at rest at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, on Point Loma, in San Diego, California, with her beloved departed son.
