Cindy Dee (Roberts)
Louis
Nov 14, 1953 — Nov 14, 2023
With heavy hearts, the Louis-Matthews family announces the passing of their cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Cindy Dee Roberts Louis. On her 70th birthday, Cindy was called back to heaven, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth.
Memorial Service: Saturday, December 2, 2023, 2:00 PM, Biggers Funeral Home Chapel.
Born in Innisfail, Alberta, Canada, on November 14, 1953 to John "Jack" Ross and Mildred "Millie" Goode, Cindy was adopted ten days later by Leroy Henry and Virginia Roberts of Fort Worth, Texas. Growing up alongside her brother, Craig Roberts, she became a naturalized citizen of the United States at the age of sixteen, graduating a year early from Arlington Heights High School in 1971.
From a young age, Cindy displayed a remarkable talent for crafts, learning skills such as sewing, quilting, and embroidery from her mother, Virginia Roberts. These pursuits became her lifelong passions. Cindy was also an ardent animal lover, dedicating years to raising and rescuing Maine Coon cats.
During her high school years, Cindy took pride in her work as a florist with Gordon Boswell Flowers in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1973, she married her high school sweetheart, Mark Louis, and together they shared 25 years of marriage, welcoming four children: Felicia, Jennifer, Eric, and Christopher. As an Air Force spouse, Cindy and the Louis family enjoyed living across the United States in Los Angeles CA, Houston TX, Springfield VA, Colorado Springs CO, and Austin TX.
Cindy's professional journey led her to become an Executive Administrative Assistant for various companies, showcasing her expertise in computers and software. At the age of 40, she reconnected with her birth family, including her birth mother, Millie Goode Meyers, and siblings Jimmy, Arthur, Crawford, Billy, and Paul.
In 2001, Cindy found lasting love with Ernest Matthews. They made their home in Arlington, Texas, before choosing a more rural setting in Joshua, Texas. There, they planned to retire surrounded by their beloved Maine Coon cats, along with their rescues, which included dogs and horses.
Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Virginia Roberts; her brother, Craig Roberts; and stepson, Paul Skelly.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Ernest Matthews; children, Felicia (Charles) Louis Hernandez, Jennifer (Kevin) Louis Ruthesell, Eric (Jonessa) Louis, and Christopher (Jessica) Louis; stepson, Ernie (Laycie) Matthews; ten grandchildren: Emmalee, Hannah, Hayden, Hallie, Peyton, Tanner, Sean, Kristy, Jacob, and Eli; and one great-granddaughter, Beau.
In celebrating Cindy's life, we remember her kindness, creativity, and love for family and animals. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in our hearts.
