Obituary

Curtis H Rand, age 74, passed away within their home in Saginaw, Texas with his loving wife, Susan, and son, Jason on Monday, October 9, 2023.

Curt was born October 5, 1949 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Harold Rand and Lois Rand. Moving to Rawlins, Wyoming, Curt attended Rawlins High School graduating in the year of 1968. He also attended St. John's military school in Salina, Kansas where he was on the track and played football while receiving metals from both sports.

Curtis married his high school sweetheart Susan Brubaker after graduation. Susan and Curt were married in Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Rawlins on October 13, 1966. They both decided to go to college at the University of Laramie in Laramie, Wyoming. During his college years he raced motocross sponsored by Yamaha.

After their college years, they returned to Rawlins and started their family. They were blessed with three children, two sons, Scott, and Jason, and one daughter, Lynette. Curt loved doing things with his wife and children. He went to work as Director of Operations at Union Pacific Railroad in Wamsutter, Rawlins and Cheyenne, Wyoming. He then moved to Alliance, Nebraska, where he became Chief Dispatcher for Burlington Northern Railroad. At this time, Curt fought a hard battle with cancer in Alliance, Nebraska.

Burlington Northern Railroad moved Curt's family to Saginaw, Texas.

Curt loved Elk Mountain, fishing, hunting and photography, and doing everything together as a family and helping any neighbor in need. He retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad in Fort Worth, Texas, where he remained doing things for family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harold and Lois Rand; grandparents; father-in-law, Glenn Brubaker and mother-in-law, Lillian Brubaker; daughter, Lynette; brothers-in-law, Harry Brubaker, and Russell Brubaker.

Curt is survived by his wife, Susan; his son's, Scott Rand, and his wife, Tomaara,  Jason Rand; his sister, Pam Hearne and her husband, Terry of Rochester, New York; brothers-in-law, Earl and his wife, Odelia, Jim and wife, Tina; sister-in-law, Catherine (Brubaker) Logan; grandchildren, Victoria Rand, Garrett Rand and his fiancé, Averi, Alyssa McKee and her husband, Clinton, Alexandra Strong and her husband, Sean, great-grandchildren, Amelia, Liam, Paisley, Brody, and Keith, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Curt will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, his sons and family and many friends.
