Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Dallas - Ft Worth National Cemetery. Dave was born November 16, 1949 in Riverside, California to Don D. Hinton and Doris Just. He was raised with his father Don D. Hinton, an active duty Air Force member, and Wanda Hinton as his mom. They settled in Fort Worth, Texas where Dave graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1967. He then joined the United States Navy in 1971 as an Electronic Intercept and Computer Analyst. He proudly served at U. S. Naval Communication Station in the Philippines during the Viet Nam conflict. After leaving the Navy he went on to work for Fort Worth Independent School District in 1976 as an Applications and Systems Programmer. He received the title of Manager of Operations and was part of the team that installed network connections throughout all the schools. He retired from the school district in 2004 after 28 years of service. While his service to country and the state was of great importance to Dave, his proudest accomplishment was raising his children as a single father into the adults they are today. Dave was faithfully called "Pops" by many and spent his retirement years traveling the United States to visit family and friends. He loved fishing, concerts, and his furry friends that he raised over the years. Dave will be missed by many, but the memories and laughter of his spirit will be passed on. He is survived by his children Christina Vandertuin and husband, Cody; son, Scott Hinton; grandchildren, Dyllan, Maddy, and Cadence; brother, John "JD" Hinton, wife, Susan; sister, Donna Smith and husband, Tony; Aunt Sarah Truitt; cousins, Lynn Hinton Riebe, Scott Hinton and wife, Chantel, Dana Hinton and wife, Carrie, Tony Truitt and wife, Mariah, Denise Smith and husband, Chris, William "Billy" Culver, Gayle Robbins, Mary Cartright, and many nieces, nephews and countless friends he considered family.
