Dixie Darlene Petrie, age 90, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 in Rochelle, Illinois.

Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Dido Cemetery, Tarrant County, Texas.

Dixie was born April 23, 1933 in Humphreys, Missouri to the late Ursula C. Smith and James R. West. She married Melvin Petrie and they had two sons, Michael and Joel.

Being around her family was the most important thing to her. Dixie loved driving her friends out to lunch and occasionally to the casino for some added fun. She enjoyed reading, watching football on Sundays, baking and gifting Christmas cookies every year. She also had a love for her feline family over the past few years, consisting of Snow, Buttercup and Gracie.

Dixie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend of many. Knowing Dixie was to love Dixie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; brothers, Bob West, Roy West and Jim West.

Dixie is survived by her sons, Michael Petrie and his wife, Dana from St. Charles, Illinois and Joel Petrie and his wife, Tiffany from Fort Worth, Texas; niece, Karen Schmoll and her husband, David of Sycamore, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Tristan Petrie of Fort Worth, Texas, Magen Faircloth and her husband Jonathan of Mobile, Alabama, Taylor Lopez and her husband, Byron of Fort Worth, Texas, Lacey Gabhart of Keene, Texas; ten great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
