Donald "Don" Prater, born on August 22, 1935, went to be with our Lord on Friday, January 3, 2025. He was loved and known by many as a proud veteran who served our country.

Committal with Honors: 10:15 am, Tuesday, January 26, 2025 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.

Don was a mechanic by trade, working for Texaco and Goodyear for 32 years. He moved to Eagle Mountain Lake in the mid 70's, his lifelong dream of his. Don was also an avid bass fisherman, served as a fire chief in Pelican Bay, and worked for the Pelican Bay water department for 20 years.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Maxine; his parents; two children, Donnie and Doris; a granddaughter, Jessica; and a great-granddaughter, Ellie.

He is survived by his children: Robert and wife, Terrie, Viola, Jackie, Kay and husband, Richard; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Don left this world peacefully, knowing he wanted to reunite with his wife in heaven. He was surrounded by his children and will be deeply missed.
