AZLE Dorothy Williams Springfield, 88, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, following a brief illness. Service: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Walnut Creek Baptist Church. Interment: Jaybird Cemetery. Visitation: Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Biggers Funeral Home. Dorothy Mae Williams was born to Willie Edward and Eva Emerline Stone Williams on June 25, 1925, in Bennington, Oklahoma. She came to Texas with her parents as a young teenager, settling near the Azle community. Dorothy graduated from Azle High School with the Class of 1942. On September 26, 1942, she married Norman Jess Springfield of Springtown. They shared 68 years together until his death on February 27, 2011. Except for a brief time in Alvarado, they lived in the Reno community, raising three children. Dorothy will be remembered by those priviledged to know her for her love and care for her husband and children. She made their home a special, welcoming place for all. After the children were teenagers, she began to work outside the home taking a job as bookkeeper in Fort Worth and eventually retiring from the administrative offices of the Azle Independent School District. Mrs. Springfield was known for her quiet manner and the beautiful life she lived as a committed, witnessing Christian. She was a member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church at Reno where she played the piano and was a beloved Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. The family would like to express a special thank you to Sandy Herring and the loving staff of Silver Creek Assisted Living in Azle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; a daughter, Norma Jean Springfield Smith; and a grandson, Jeffrey Scott Springfield. Survivors: Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Linda Springfield Boyd and husband, W.E. "Teed" Boyd, of Keller; son, Gary Don Springfield and wife, Gay Fry Springfield, of Azle; son-in-law, William Larry Smith of Grandview; grandsons, Tony Springfield, Gregg Boyd and Barry Smith; granddaughters, Deena Springfield, Kim Boyd Davidson and Lisa Smith Lee; 10 great- grandchildren; the Springfield extended family where she was deeply loved; and many friends.
