Obituary

Dudley Gene Sherrill, 87, loving husband, father and grandfather, drifted quietly into eternal peace Friday afternoon, March 28, 2014. His beloved wife and two daughters were by his side.A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Olivet Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dudleys name to Community Hospice of Texas and Silver Creek United Methodist Church (Building Fund). Dudley was born in Waco, February 21, 1927. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Little Rock during World War II. Dudley began a career in transportation as district sales manager for Continental Airlines. He met and married the love of his life, his wife Ann. He adored Ann, his two daughters and always put his family ahead of himself.Dudleys career also included employment with Western Commercial Transportation (Fort Worth), Bray Lines (Cushing, Oklahoma) and Unarco (Wagoner, Oklahoma). He was a successful, fair and honest businessman.Dudleys passion was fishing and he was always happiest with a rod and reel in hand. He was a gifted gardener and a member of Silver Creek United Methodist Church in Azle.He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Ann Sherrill; daughters, LeAnn Quick and her husband, Ron, and Cynthia Puckett and her husband, Tim; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
