Obituary

Earl Dwayne Mooney (86) passed away on January 4, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Karen Ann Tucker Mooney. They shared 61 years together.

Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, January 10, 2023 at Biggers Funeral Home in Lake Worth, Texas

Service: 11:00 am, Thursday, January 11, 2023 at Ash Creek Baptist Church in Azle, Texas.

Dwayne/Pete/Pop was born in 1937 to Earl Henry Mooney and Mary Mabel Baugh Mooney. He grew up in Decatur, Texas, and graduated from Decatur High School in 1956. He worked at Bell Helicopter for 25 years and owned his own construction business until his retirement in 2005.

He will be remembered as a God-fearing family man and a patriot of his country. He was a member of Ash Creek Baptist Church for over 60 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his kids and grandchildren, and talking to anyone about anything. He was a fierce domino player, which challenged all family members to know their math.

He is survived by his sweetheart and wife, Karen Mooney; his son, Kevin Mooney and wife, Tammy; his daughter, Kathren Karnes and husband, Rick; his daughter, Kerri Crawford and husband, Joe; and his son, Kenny Mooney and wife, Jimra. He is also survived by a wealth of grandchildren – Emily & David Hopkins, Mary and Carson Rouse, Jake and Myranda Crawford, Stephen and Danni Karnes, Kayla Karnes, Kolton & Brooke Mooney, Kollin Mooney, and Kenlee Mooney and three great grandchildren – Zach Karnes, Sophia Hopkins, and James Crawford. In addition, he is survived by his two sisters Mary Ann Hodges and Nelda Luster, sisters-in-law, Sandra Mooney, Laura Crone, Regina Donnell, and brothers-in-law, Tom Donnell and Bob Tucker; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mom and dad, Earl and Mary Mooney, his sister, Betty, and his brother, J.D.
