Anne, beloved wife and mother, gifted artist, author and opera singer went home to be with the Lord early on Wednesday morning, August 18, 2021. Born in Rome, Georgia, Anne was the daughter of Frank and Mary Jerome Hammond. Passionate about arts and literature, Anne worked with inner city kids in Atlanta at the "Sheltering Arms" for several years and also taught first grade at Shiloh Christian school in Marietta, where she met her future husband Greg, after attending University of Georgia. Anne was honored to be involved in many things she loved. She served as a volunteer for local school art classes, was a dedicated prayer volunteer at Eagle Mountain International Church, and sang in several church choirs. She enjoyed traveling to visit her sons, Jonathan and Griffen and her twin sister, Jan, every year. A painter, children's book author and songwriter, Anne appreciated art and literature. Her love for the King of Kings was expressed through her art, songs and friendships. Anne's art was greatly influenced by the French Impressionist, Claude Monet, and the self-taught American folk art painter, Grandma Moses, who painted authentic scenes of small towns in America and the surrounding countryside. Anne had great affection for all creatures great and small in nature. She relished marvelous British documentaries and films, the well-developed characters and gorgeous period clothing. Anne had a true gift of friendship and Friday film nights were enjoyed by many of her pals. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Jerome Hammond; paternal grandparents, William and Ellen Bowers of Plainsville, Georgia; maternal grandparents Melvin and Ellen Bowers of Birmingham, Alabama. Anne is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Greg Melvin, of Fort Worth, Texas. In addition to her sons and their wives, Jonathan and Janna Melvin of Chesapeake, Virginia, and her four grandchildren, Emma, Abby, Canon, and Madeline; and her youngest son, Griffen Melvin and his wife, Kelley, of Kansas City, MO. Anne is also survived by her twin sister, Jan Sewell, and husband, Mike of Grand Junction, Colorado; brother Bill Hammond of Birmingham, Alabama and her oldest sister, Jerome Hammond, of Woodstock, Georgia. Anne's life was circumscribed by her love for Abba Father, Intercessory prayer, art, and song. She always had Jesus on her mind. Always.
