Obituary

Emma Sanders Grantham, 99, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014, in Fort Worth. The family will gather for a service in late November in the Rifle Cemetery. Emma Sanders Fox was born September 19, 1915, in Sterling, Colorado, to Dr. Melvin R. and Gladys Sanders Fox. She graduated from high school in Boulder, Colorado, received her undergraduate degree from Colorado State Teachers College in Greeley and her masters degree from Western State College. She taught in the public schools in Rifle, Grand Valley and Grand Junction for 40 years. Her specialty was music education and through the years taught uncounted private lessons to students in addition to her work in the schools. She played the viola in the Grand Junction Symphony for 30 years. She was also active in Eastern Star most of her adult life. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Cecil and David; husband, Joe Grantham; a daughter, Bunny Rohrig; and a grandson, Raymond Rohrig. She leaves behind her daughter, Marsha Buske of Encinitas, California; son, Bob Cross and wife, Judy, of Fort Worth; son-in-law, Larry Rohrig of Rifle, Colorado; grandchildren, Michael Cross, Richard Cross, Kim Buske, Kurt Buske, Paula Suarez, Bo Rohrig, Rebecca Imperial and Bonnie Jennings. Her progeny includes three children, nine grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She has made a difference.
