Erma was born on April 12, 1941, in the Mississippi Delta to her late parents W.D. and Erma Perry. She was a remarkable woman with a sassy and fearless personality. She never met a stranger and was known for her warm hugs and infectious smile. Resilient and full of life, Erma lived each day to the fullest. She had a passion for line dancing and country two stepping. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, one could find Erma kicking up her heels and staying healthy with a host of wonderful ladies that always lift each other up. She loved traveling and playing cards. Most of all, she cherished her time spent with her family and friends.

During her life, she was a dedicated wife, mother, business owner, and occasional bookkeeper. She took pride in her home and always welcomed people in with open arms. Erma lived in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas throughout the years. No matter where she lived, she always stood strong in God and built her life around her family and those in her church congregations at Shaw Baptist Church, Branch Baptist Church, Walnut Hill Presbyterian Church, LaJunta Baptist Church, and Glenview Baptist Church.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, David and Clifford Perry.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Parkinson and spouse, Fred Finch; children, Gary Minton and his wife, Renee, Scotty Minton, Tawanda Dickman and her husband, Mike; grandchildren, Robyn and Chris, Andy, Adam and Anna Grace, Rhett, Cody and Alexa, Trish and Alex, Sadie, and Micah; great-grandchildren, Ava Grace, Ava, and Maggie May.  Erma and Fred were married in faith for 9 precious years. This relationship provided Erma with a wonderful blessing of more family to love on and hold dear: Michelle and Troy Wolfe and family, Glynda and Michael Riojas and family, Keita and Steve Fisher and family, Russell and Kerri Finch and family, Doug Davidson, and Don and Kim Davidson and family. While Erma cared deeply for all that she knew, her nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family always held a special place in her heart.
