Following her husbands retirement from the U.S. Air Force, they settled in Fort Worth, where she remained until 1999 when she moved to Waynesboro, Tennessee. She was a member of Waynesboro First United Methodist Church, Red Hat Society and a lifetime member of "Dixiettes" Ladies Auxiliary of the 31st Infantry Dixie Division Association. In 2014 she returned to Texas to be with her daughter and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irwin "El" Ellis; and her daughter, Franell May. Fran is survived by her son-in-law, Rick May; grandson, Trae May and his wife, Lyndie, and their son, Fisher; and grandson, Case May and his wife, Allison, and their sons, Connor, Grant and Owen.
