Garlan Ray Polan, 84, a professional cattle feed lot manager, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Biggers Funeral Chapel.Ray was born July 29, 1929, in Eastland County to John and Nina Polan. He was a longtime resident of Hereford, where he owned and managed Hereford Cattle Feeders Inc., the largest commercial cattle feed yard in Deaf Smith County.He was preceded in death by a son, Glen Ray Polan, in 2008. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Katherine Polan of Fort Worth; children, Arthur Wayne Polan and wife, Margarita, of Moriarty, New Mexico, and Deadra Polan of Fort Worth; sister, Pansy Summers of Woodbury, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
