Gary Flint, 71 passed away on June 3 at his home.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday June 9, 2014 at Ash Creek Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Wesley Shotwell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Kidney Foundation.
Gary was born January 30, 1943 in Ilion, New York to William and Roberta Flint and graduated in 1961 from Van Hornsville Central School in Van Hornsville, New York. After graduating high school, he joined the Army and served for three years. In 1965 he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Ann Smith and they lived in Van Hornsville where they had two sons, Michael and Dale Flint. They moved to Azle in 1977 and raised their children.
Gary was a trim carpenter and had a true gift of wood working. In addition to carpentry, he loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and enjoyed attending black powder rendezvous. Above all, Gary loved spending time with his family and friends, hosting cookouts and pool parties, as well as a friendly game or two (or three) of poker.
He is survived by his wife Shirley; his sons Michael Flint and wife Tonya and Dale Flint and wife Amy; four grandchildren, Beau, Blake, Cooper and Carson; siblings Linda Abowd and David Flint; and several nieces and nephews - and his beloved sidekick and constant shadow, a loyal Golden Retriever named Angel.
