Georgia Ruth Wimberley Atkins, known to most as Ruth or Ruthie, 83, of Fort Worth, Texas, received her Heavenly reward the morning of July 27, 2024, surrounded by her girls.

Service: 10:00 am, Saturday, August 10, 2024 at The WORD at Lakeside Church of God, Lakeside, Texas

Graveside: 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 10, 2024, Mount Marion Cemetery, Strawn, Texas.

Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 om, Friday, August 9, 2024 at Biggers Funeral Home, Lake Worth, Texas.

She was born on March 11, 1941, in Strawn, Texas, to the late Moody Morris "Bud" Wimberley and Bessie Mae Bell. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, nurturer, and friend. She was known for her love of baking, sewing, and taking care of her loved ones.

In her career, she worked diligently in her positions as an Avon representative, Gaylor's Chicken, General Dynamics, Panhandle Slim, and Snow Ball Express Snow Cone Stand. Her willingness to nurture and serve was evident in everything she did.

Ruth found solace in creating things for others, which was shown in her constant sewing and baking. She was also a member of the Church of God denomination, worshipping at White Settlement Church of God, which became Arlington Heights Church of God, then later becoming The WORD at Lakeside Church of God.

Outside of faith, baking, and sewing, Ruth found joy in traveling to see and spend time with her 8 brothers and sisters, visiting places like Colorado; Branson, Missouri; Albuquerque Balloon Festival. Ruth was an integral part in the nurture and care of most of her brothers and sisters as they reached their transition to their Heavenly rewards. She believed serving and being a faithful family member was the most important part of this life.

Ruth is survived by her brother, Gene Wimberley and partner, Ray Foster of Cathedral City, California; daughters, Nancy Cothrum, Christine Sexton and husband, Richard Shane Sexton, all of Fort Worth, Texas, and Ella Norris and husband, David Norris of North Richland Hills, Texas, and her legal charge/granddaughter, Therese Atkins of Fort Worth, Texas, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granddaughters; and countless nieces and nephews.

Ruth will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. The legacy of love, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
