Obituary

Gordon Burt, 85, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Biggers Funeral Chapel, 6100 Azle Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76135.

He was born on August 6, 1938. Gordon was an assistant to the director for cost analysis and research for the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe railroad for 44 years. He started his career in Chicago and was transferred to Fort Worth in 1996 when Burlington Northern merged with Santa Fe.

In addition to his professional achievements, Gordon was an active member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He held esteemed positions within the organization, including Past Department Commander Patriarchs Militant of Texas and Past Grand Patriarch of the Grand Encampment of Texas. Gordon also dedicated his time as a volunteer at Bass Hall for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ruby Burt, and his son Brandon David.

Gordon was a dedicated family man and is survived by his high school sweetheart of 66 years, Sharon Burt; their children, Kimberly (Brad) Bachelor, Dan (Avonda) Burt, Jeff Burt, Kevin (Karen) Burt, and Doug (Holly) Swenson-Burt; grandchildren Amy, Dan, Ashley, Chris, Zack, Christopher, Jon, Jennifer, Ryker, Jodi, Brandy, Gavin, Genna, and his 39 great-grandchildren.

Gordon Burt will be deeply missed by his loving family; may he rest in peace.
