Memorials: The family respectfully request that donations can be made in honor of Diane Van Slyke Riddle to Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Diane was born June 24, 1941, along with her twin brother Denny, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Robert and Denzel Van Slyke. Diane spent most of her life growing up in Lake Worth, TX along with her four brothers. She graduated from Lake Worth High School in 1959. She enjoyed being in the Bullfrog band and was a majorette. She and her twin brother Denny were also known for their smooth moves on the dance floor! They even danced together on a TV program called Teenage Down Beat. In 1960 Diane married Larry Don Riddle (L.D.) and together they spent many an hour either water skiing or motorcycle riding. Diane went to work for General Foods in 1967 and retired after 26 years of service.
Diane and L.D. had two children; Belinda Kay who died at birth and Donald Craig who died at age 38 of ALS. Diane became Craig's caregiver several years before his death. Not an easy thing, to watch your strong, healthy son waist away to a terrible disease. Craig did give Diane two precious grandsons who she absolutely adored. She also helped raise these two boys during a few difficult years of their lives.
Diane had a huge heart and she loved big! She was always willing to try and help someone. She will be missed!
Diane is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, L.D.; daughter, Belinda Kay Riddle, son, Donald Craig Riddle; brothers Robert, Buddy, Denny and Danny Van Slyke.
She is survived by grandsons, Jason Craig Riddle and Joshua Craig Riddle and wife Paige; great-grandson, Elijah Craig Riddle; great-granddaughter, Calliah Grace Riddle; friend and care giver, Jeanette Fernandez; sisters-in-law, Ramona Van Slyke and Sonja Riddle Dildy and husband, Charles; special "sister" friend, Sandy Tarrant; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
