Obituary

Harold Louis Edward Blase, 91, retired United States Army sergeant major, passed away peacefully at his home in Fort Worth on Friday, February 13, 2015. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Biggers Funeral Home in Lake Worth. Service and interment will be held Saturday, February 21, in Hamel, Illinois. Harold was born September 29, 1923, in Sylvan Grove, Kansas, to William and Emma Blase. The family moved to Illinois, where Harold met the love of his life, Evelyn Eileen Blase; they had just celebrated their 62nd anniversary on Christmas Day. His military career began in 1941 and included World War II through the Vietnam War. Harold always had a very active role in the churches he attended, most recently Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Azle and Messiah Lutheran Church in Keller. Harold was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Blase and William Blase. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; children, Rodney Blase, Ed Blase, Patty Blase Homer Opert, Bill Blase and wife, Beverly; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Wally Blase and wife, Joey, and Richard Blase; sisters, Dorothy Wagner and Kathy Shelton and husband, Jim; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Blase and Elfrieda Blase; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends.
