Harry "Pat" Getchell, 94 years old, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in Granbury, Texas.

Inurnment: 2:15 p.m., March 9, 2026, Dallas-Fort National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.

A recent resident of Fort Worth, Texas, he was born in Rapid City, South Dakota and raised in Battle Ground, Washington. After graduating from Battle Ground High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and served proudly on the USS Manchester in the Korean War and in Japan.

While living in California, he worked for the Hughes Corporation and also spent 25 years at the University of California Medical Center as the Materiel Manager. While working full-time, he achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Redlands.

Once he retired, he traveled extensively throughout all 50 states with his wife Barbara. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and cribbage (and winning!) and visiting national parks. They then moved to Battle Ground, Washington and he became an accomplished gardener of dahlias, blueberries and roses. Next stop was Pahrump, Nevada, where Pat enjoyed golfing, square dancing and an occasional slot machine. It was there he joined the Elks Club.

Pat was a good Christian man who valued his family, friends and Lutheran faith. He was always quick with a smile and to lend a hand. He appreciated life and was fun to be with.

He is lovingly remembered and survived by Barbara J Getchell, his wife of 45 years; his brother, John "Jack" Getchell (Sudie); his children, Laura Smith (Steve), Steve Getchell (Julie), stepchildren Jeannie Neely (Mark), Mary Ellen Bench, and Edward Bench (Irene); 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his father, Francis Hamilton Getchell and mother, Eunice, his brothers, Donald, Charles, James and his sisters, Shirley Bash and Frances Dillow.
