Hilda Alvarez Newton, 73, passed away August 12. 2023, surrounded by her family in Harris Methodist Hospital.

Born June 12, 1950, in Eldorado Texas, Hilda was a dedicated homemaker, loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother.

Graveside Service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 18, 2023, at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Hilda was a very loving mother and grandmother, serving as a pillar of strength for her family and loved ones.

She was a very caring and kind person, always ready to help others' needs before her own. She was a good cook, outgoing, and always had something to laugh about. She enjoyed watching tennis, and anything that made her laugh, classic cars, ceramics, and animals--mostly cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benancio Alvarez and Elia Alvarez; her siblings, Arturo Alvarez, Elena Alvarez and Richard Alvarez.

Hilda is survived by her husband of 49 years, Larry Newton; daughters, Stephanie Herr and Kristen Newton; sons, Jeffrey Newton and Brent Newton; grandchildren, Jason Herr and Elizabeth Herr; sister, Amanda Salazar; and brother, Benancio Alvarez Jr.

She has made many friends and connections over her long life, and the world will not be the same without her kindness, humor and loving presence. Hilda will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
