Mrs. Hsi Croy passed away on January 22, 2024, at the age of 71 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Memorial Service: 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 4, 2023 in Biggers Funeral Chapel, 6100 Azle Avenue, Lake Worth, Texas 76135. Attire is casual, please come as you are.

Hsi Croy was born on November 16, 1952 in Tainan Hsien, Taiwan to her late parents, Mr. Ching Cheng and Mrs. Lee Chou Huang.

As a child, she grew up in a big family on a rice farm, attending Liujia Elementary School. She was the first daughter sent to "the big city" (Tainan City, Taiwan) to work and send money home to support her family. In 1974, Hsi met Earl Croy, a U.S. Air Force serviceman, who would become her husband for 48 years.

Together, Hsi and Earl explored the world. As an Air Force wife and mom, Hsi was proud to represent America and her military family. Whether amidst the ocean waves of the Pacific or the falling snow in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, she made every military assignment feel like home…Taiwan, Okinawa, Utah, Arizona, California, and South Dakota.

Hsi was a strong and remarkable woman who uplifted her family and did everything to support them. She was the BEST, most loyal and dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. She was an amazing cook who was always ready to make you a meal, and maintained a home you could always be proud of (clean as a whistle, even to her dying day). On occasion, Hsi also worked as a waitress, hospital housekeeper, and hotel housekeeper, taking pride in her jobs while still finding time to prepare homecooked meals where they would be waiting for you in the fridge.

Born in the year of the Dragon, she was one! She was passionate, fierce, resilient, and full of life. She was a strong, determined, powerful, and smart woman – a force of nature that weathered every storm. Hsi brought a richness to life by uniting two cultures together, American and Taiwanese. She poured her experiences, common sense, and life lessons into her kids, grandkids, and husband, so much so, that it was the definition of her life…they were the reason she woke up and breathed every day.

Hsi loved deeply. She loved all who came into her life – you could feel it the moment she met you with her bigger-than-life grand smile and half-moon cute eyes. She held you in her heart, even across the miles and months. She always thought about those she loved when she was away traveling and seeing the world, often returning to surprise you with a personal, meaningful gift. Her love language was giving…giving in every way. She gave so much of her time in all she did for you. And through thick and thin, she honored you. Loving her family in this way was so natural to her, so important to her, and it was what she did best in life.

What made her smile the most was camping, fishing (and actually catching a monster fish for the fry pan!...which sparked the biggest smiles), taking care of her family, loving the family fur babies, walking through the botanical gardens, cooking, cleaning, listening to popular music from her generation in Taiwan and American favorites like Rod Stewart and Tim McGraw, watching the latest Taiwanese dramas on YouTube (which would make her laughter fill the house), and reflecting on the words and promises of Jesus through prayer, reading her Mandarin-English Bible, and listening to Christian radio.

When it came to animals, they had a special place in Hsi's life. When her children left the nest, the home was so quiet, there was an overwhelming feeling of loneliness that only animals can fill. Her first family pet was Thapai (which means "big white dog" in Taiwanese). He was an abused rescue dog. Having seen the worst, Thapai was shy to warm up to people, yet he and Hsi were best friends from the beginning. Thapai brought so much meaning to her life as he took front row in their empty nest. He LOVED his human mom; he even loved her cooking too! Hsi would go on to fall in love with her family's fur babies, whether dog or ferret. Sueii, Duke, Philly, Daisy, Hydro, Mai-Mai, Pebbles, Saki, Faith, Brownie, and so many others found their way into her heart.

Even in her golden years, she loved exploring. Her love of traveling on a whim led to many adventures abroad, seeing the world with her husband and spending half the year in Hawaii with her grandchildren. Because of the many memories that Hsi and Earl created in Okinawa, Japan while raising their young family, they would go back to visit whenever the opportunity arose. Okinawa is a special place – they created many memories that will live there forever.

Hsi cherished the time she spent with her husband, children, son-in-law, and grandchildren. She adored her grandkids, Cora and Sianna, and rejoiced in their happiness, loving every ounce of their beings. She blessed them with sentimental gifts, passed on jewelry that she collected and cherished through her life, and she always had a sweet treat for them…vanilla Oreos or Buc-ee's gummy bears transported all the way from Texas…these always brought full smiles and cheers! Hsi took great care of her family. She was the perfect handbook of a selfless mother and wife, and she defined common sense. She led by example by giving all of herself. When tough choices had to be made, she willingly sacrificed her own needs and quality of life to ensure her children had the best and to make them as successful as they could be. In her last days, she expressed how much she loved her two daughters. She was thankful to God for Dede being so successful in life as a business owner and for her work tending to humans' best friends as a dog groomer and advocate for veteran and disabled dogs. She was so proud of Christina, quick to tell a neighbor about her "Lieutenant Colonel Air Force Pilot daughter," her wonderful son-in-law, and her beautiful granddaughters. She always wanted her kids to have more in life than she had and lifted them up to the skies so they could reach their dreams and conquer the tallest mountains, even those they did not know they would have to climb. May Hsi rest in peace knowing she achieved what she dutifully set out to accomplish. Hsi took care of, nurtured, and cherished her family in everything she did. She is loved and truly missed…until we meet again.

Hsi is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Croy; children, Dede Croy, Christina Lee and her husband, Timothy; grandchildren, Cora and Sianna Lee; and many relatives in Taiwan.
