Idora Ruth Autry, loving mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her, transitioned from this life to be with her Lord and family on the other side on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017, in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Interment: 12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Friendship Cemetery in Wise County. Visitation: 5:30-7:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2017, at Biggers Funeral Home. Ruth was born October 28, 1935 in Chickashay, Oklahoma to Austin and Idora Pearl Davis. She was the youngest and youngest at heart of six sisters and three brothers who all have preceded her. In 1940, the family moved to Boyd and bought a farm. It was there, at the age of 14, that she met a young man who came to work on the farm. He was Trueman Autry and they were married on May 30, 1953 before he was drafted into the Korean War. When he returned from duty they would live in the Fort Worth area for the next 59 years until he preceded her in death on June 9, 2012. She stressed the importance of education to her children by continuing her own education and getting her GED at the age of 55. As a homemaker and childcare worker, she served as mother, counselor, teacher, nurse, and friend. She was a member of Heritage Church of Christ. She will be missed, but we are also happy for her. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the Neuro I.C.U. Staff at Texas Health Resources-Harris Methodist Hospital for the excellent care given to Ruth. Survivors: She is survived by her children, Vence Autry, Phil Autry, Sabra Corley, and Lisa Nuttall and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
