Obituary

Irvin Barnes was born on January 20, 1922 in Lawson, Arkansas to Nelson and Zelma Barnes. He went home to our Lord on April 26, 2012. Funeral: A celebration of Irvins life will be Tuesday, May 1st at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Monday, April 30th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Biggers Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be made to Patriot PAWS Service Dogs, 254 Ranch Trail, Rockwall, TX 75032, patriotpaws@aol.com. The mission of Patriot PAWS is to train and provide service dogs of the highest quality to disabled American veterans. In 1942 Irvin answered his countrys call and volunteered for the Army Air Corps. He served in several major battles including D-Day. Irvin retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant with 30 years of service. Irvin started a career as a a vocational mechanics teacher at Boswell High School. After a 15 year career as an educator he retired again. Irvin was a godly man, active in Rosen Heights Baptist for over 40 years. In addition to serving as a deacon he served his Lord in the childrens department and in the church office. He is survived by his wife Leona. They were blessed with a marriage of over 66 years; Irvin is also survived by his daughter Angela Barnes Annis and her husband Harold, and by his son, Andrew Barnes and his wife Donna. He was also blessed with 3 grandchildren Barney Annis, Jessica Barnes Bellemer, and Travis Barnes and 2 great granddaughters, Caty and Alex Annis.
