James Hubert Hargrove, age 87, gained his wings and departed this earth for his Heavenly home on Tuesday,
June 17, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas surrounded by those who loved him. After a hard-fought battle against complications from a hip fracture and pneumonia, he is healed and at peace with his Heavenly Father.
Service: 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11:00am at Sagamore Baptist Church, Fort Worth, Texas.
Interment: Private family burial at Saginaw Cemetery will follow the service.
Visitation: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Biggers Funeral Home
Pallbearers: Blake Barton, Brody Barton, Mike Milburn, Kerry Bosworth, Hunter Starnes and Landon Starnes.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family desires friends and family to contribute to Shriners Hospitals for Children, an organization near and dear to his heart. (https://donate.lovetotherescue.org)
James was born in Colorado City, Texas, on March 6, 1938, to W.C. and Lurlene Hargrove.
James began working for Texas Electric Service Company in 1957. After serving in the US Army from 1960 to 1963, James returned from Fairbanks, Alaska, to work for Texas Electric and living in Sweetwater, Texas; Big Spring, Texas and subsequently settling in Fort Worth, Texas, where he retired in 1992.
In addition to being a hard worker, James was also a Shriner and a Mason for 51 yrs. He started his shrine career with the Suez Motor Patrol in Big Spring, Texas and later transferred to the Moslah Shrine Directors unit in Fort Worth, Texas.
James is survived by his brother, Lynn Hargrove and wife, Joanna; his two daughters, Sheri McIlroy and husband, Tommy and Melissa Barton and husband, David; his beloved grandchildren, Lauren Barton, Cheyne McIlroy, Blake Barton, Brody Barton and numerous "honorary" grandchildren as well as cousins, nieces and nephews that he adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.C. and Lurlene Hargrove and granddaughter, Alexis Lynne Barton.
