James Jay "Jim" Atkins, a retired Fort Worth banker, departed from this earth, Monday, October 7, 2024.
Celebration of His Life: 11:30 am, Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Ash Creek Baptist Church, 300 S. Stewart Street, Azle, Texas 76020.
Family will be receiving friends from 11:00 – 11:30 am, prior to service.
Committal with Military Honors at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
Jim was born July 20, 1935 to Charlie and Melba (Park) Atkins. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1953 and attended Oregon College of Education in Monmouth, Oregon.
He cherished regular gatherings with family and friends and was a devoted Bridge and 42 player.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Melba (Park) Atkins; sisters, Peggy McWhorter and Dorothy Hall; brother, Charlie Atkins Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Atkins; son, Keith Bearfield (Lori); daughter, Julie (Dusek) Gardner (James); grandchildren, Misty Griemsman (Troy), Megan Newman (Joe), and Chance Dusek (Jessalyn); great-grandchildren, Creed Dusek, Reagan Newman, Casen Dusek, Guy Griemsman, and Reid Newman; "bonus" grandchildren, Jason Gardner (Mistie), Ryan Gardner (Tanisha), Courtney Mendolia (Tony); "bonus" great-grandchildren, Dalton Raymond, Brayden Gardner, Gracie Gardner, Ryker Gardner, Hadley Gardner and Harper Mendolia.
