James Lester Mayo, 68, at 11:47 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, went to be with the Lord and join all of his loved ones who have gone on before him. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Saginaw, 300 North Old Decatur Rd. Interment with full military honors will be at 9:15 a.m. Friday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Biggers Funeral Home, 6100 Azle Ave., Lake Worth. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105, or by calling 1-800-805-5856. Jim was born in Orange on June 27, 1944. He was married to his bride, Ruth, for more than 50 years. They have resided in North Texas for more than 26 years. Jim served his country in the U.S. Navy for 20 years retiring as a chief petty officer. He eventually retired a second time from the real estate business in 2005. Jim loved people and left many, many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Amie and Wallace Owen. Those here to remember him are his loving wife of 50 years, Ruth; his son, Chuck and his wife, Margie, and their children, Samantha and her husband, Daniel, Nathan, Sarah, and Michael, all of Charleston, South Carolina; his daughter, Jo Wallace and her husband, Shawn, and their children, Bryan of Fort Worth and Melissa Johnson and her husband, Ned, and their daughter, Cosette, of Oceanside, California.
