James "Jim" Albert Morris, 64, passed away on Thanksgiving day, November 23. After battling and surviving cancer, it was an unexpected heart attack that took Jim away. Service: A celebration of Jim's life is planned for 3:30 p.m., Thursday, November 30, at Biggers Funeral Home. Jim was born in Columbia, S.C. on January 25, 1953, to Kathleen "Kay" Thornton and Harry Morris. After attending school at the Masonic Home and School in Fort Worth for several years, Jim finished his schooling in Beaumont. He worked as a building contractor for Atkinson and Associate Builders. Jim loved Cajun food, fishing and the outdoors, and was looking forward to retiring and spending his days on the water. Besides being a great father and family man, he was a loving brother to four brothers and one sister. The family extends their heart-felt thanks to the many friends and family for their support, thoughts, and prayers. Survivors: He is survived by his loving wife, Darla Morris, residing in Saginaw; and a blessed blended family, daughters, Johnna Harrison and her husband, Cory, Mindy Richison, and son, Cody Hembree, along with seven grandchildren.
