James Randell Pettigrew Sr., 78, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born September 12, 1947, James lived a life marked by strength, devotion, and unwavering support for those he held dear.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, James carried his sense of duty and discipline into a remarkable 38-year career with BNSF Railway. He was a man of quiet resilience and deep loyalty—protective, loving, and always present for his family. Though he wasn't Jesus, he was a carpenter in both skill and spirit, building not just with his hands but with his heart.

James found joy in the simple things: deer hunting, fishing, and spending time with those he cherished most.

James was preceded in death by his siblings, Billy Ray McMahon, Franklin Knox Pettigrew, Jimbo Miles, and Van E. Pettigrew.

His legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Valerie Jane Oliveto Pettigrew; his children, Jamie Marie Pettigrew Burleson, Samantha Gail Pettigrew White, and James Randell Pettigrew Jr.; his grandchildren, Joe, Jacob, Jeremy, Jacquelyn, Alan, Elizabeth, Raven, Paige, and Scarlett; and his great-grandchildren Jensen, Lincoln, and Parker; siblings, Missy Johnson and David Blackstock.

All who knew and loved James are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of a man who gave so much and asked for so little.
