James L. Rankins Sr., age 76, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in Fort Worth with his family by his side. He was born September 2, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, where he accepted Christ at an early age.

James worked as a photographer, went on to be a Minister in the church, and retired after working 35 years for the government. He then moved to Texas where he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, playing chess with friends, fishing, bowling and singing.

James was preceded in death by his son, James Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; three daughters, Karisa, Kimberly and Michelle.

Also to cherish his precious memories are eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry (Vanessa) and Frank; four sisters, Betty, Annie Mae, Melvina (Bobby) and Angela; his Aunt Dorothy in Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

James is greatly loved and his lovely singing voice will be greatly missed. What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us. Those we love never truly leave us. There are things that death can not touch.
