James was born June 12, 1939 in East Bernstadt, Kentucky to the late Lizzie (Hubbard) Wardrup and Charlie Wardrup.
James served in the US Army for 23 years, here and abroad, was a veteran of the Vietnam War and recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. He retired as a First Sergeant, E-8. After the military he started his own business as a remodeling contractor, which was a perfect fit for his love of interacting with people and working hard. Beyond family and country, work was his purpose. He loved to work, even his hobby - goat farming - was like a second job. After retiring, he loved being with his family above all, and being of service in any way he could.
James is survived by his wife of 61 Years, Sharon Lee Wardrup (Belli); son, James Wardrup, Jr.; daughter, Marcia Kazarian; seven Grandchildren and five Great-Grandchildren; brother, Clarence Wardrup, and sister Aileen Woodyard, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lizzie Wardrup and Charlie Wardrup; brother, Matt Wardrup and sisters, Estellene Sawyers, Stella Bowling and Maxine Hoskins.
