James Lawrence Whitaker Sr., born on October 6, 1941, in Kinloch, Missouri to Geraldine Whitaker and Quentin Whitaker Sr., peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday,  July 13, 2024.

James received his education in the Kinloch and Chicago Public School Systems and dedicated many years to a career as a truck driver before retiring. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, singing, cooking, and playing cards, filling his life with joy through these hobbies.

James was preceded in death by his father, Quentin Sr.; his mother, Geraldine; his son, James Jr.; brothers, Quentin Jr., Bruce, and Benjamin; sister, Wakanda.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, LaVerne (Rickey), Sherry (Deshawn), and Stephanie; 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great -grandchildren; brothers, Theodore, Ralph, Jerry, Clinton and James; sisters Yvonne, Velma, Quenzetta, Carol, Tina and Vonda; along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

James Lawrence Whitaker Sr. will be remembered fondly for his witty sense of humor, his vibrant spirit, and his zest for life.
