Obituary

Reverend Jeff Raymond Johns, Jr. passed away Friday, July 29, 2022. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Legacy Baptist Church, 5500 Boat Club Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76135. Interment was at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 1, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Park, Sunset, Texas. Raymond was born July 17, 1947 in Fort Worth to Jeff Raymond Johns, Sr. and Agnes Marie (Savage) Johns. He loved his family with all his heart and was great provider, protector, and wise counselor. Raymond was known by several different titles: Faithful Husband, Loving Father, Beloved Papa, Faithful Friend, and "Preacher". He was a quiet, Godly man with a very tender compassionate heart. Seldom raised his voice unless he was in the pulpit preaching God's Word, which he did for 35 years. He loved his congregation and worked very hard preparing messages to help them deal with real life. He definitely had a pastor's heart. He didn't preach deep theological messages, just simple words that anyone could understand and accept Christ. In his younger years, he loved racing cars and raced at several local racetracks. He also loved boating, fishing, and water skiing. As he got older, he began working with wood and built many beautiful pieces which his family will always treasure. Nothing excited him more than family activities including parties, dinners, trips and just being together. He loved to go on cruises and had experienced twenty cruises. He will be so greatly missed by his loving family and dear friends, but we take heart knowing we will see him again. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Agnes Johns. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Johns; his daughters, Stephanie and Nathan Gotthardt, Susan and Clint Hoover and Sarah Johns; grandchildren, Tyler Stephenson, Evan Stephenson, Levi Stephenson and Meagan, Major Jennings, Vivian McCartney and Scarlet McCartney; and his great-grandchildren, Liam and Lilly Forever in our hearts.
